Dywane Wade Moves – Art of the Two Steps

25 May 2010 No Comment

A lot of people think that D.Wade can dominate the court because of his quickness.  Yes it is half of the truth, but what makes D.Wade so tough to guard is his ability to change speed and direction.  Look at the video, and you will see that Dywane Wade uses the two steps very smart.  He doesn’t usually do two quick steps and jump high for a dunk, but instead he loves to fake to one direction and change to opposite direction at the second step.  This skill is pretty useful especially against big guys that move their feet slower than you.  More than that, as mentioned in the clip, a lot of people will try to take a charge when you drive in, and if you are able to change direction at the second step, you will be able to avoid the charging call, and instead, draw a foul and get a and one shot.  Keep in mind that the two steps do not have to be in full speed, but the most important part is you are able to get the defender going to one direction and you can switch your second step to the opposite direction and finish the basket.  And it will be more effective if you drive in with quick speed and slow down with the first step and let the defender follow your direction, and then you are able to switch your driving path.
